The challenge
The website needed to balance heritage, community and function. It had to respect the boxing history behind the gym while also making it easy for people to find training information, understand the gym’s purpose and make contact.
The project required careful thought around:
- Presenting the Tony Mundine boxing legacy respectfully
- Making class and training information easy to browse
- Creating a strong visual identity without making the site feel too polished or corporate
- Supporting a broad audience, from young people and families to experienced boxers
- Keeping the site simple enough for staff to manage and update over time
Our approach
We developed a custom WordPress website that combined bold visual design with a straightforward content structure. The site used strong imagery, dark tones and clear typography to give the gym a distinct visual presence while keeping the user journey practical.
The content was organised around the gym’s role as both a boxing facility and a community space. Training programs, location details, contact information and background content were all made easy to access, with the design reinforcing the gym’s character rather than overwhelming the content.

A stronger community story
A flexible WordPress build
Design system
The design system was built around strength, grit and community. Rather than using a generic fitness aesthetic, the website used bold contrast, structured layouts and strong imagery to create something more connected to boxing culture.
The overall look was direct and physical, with enough restraint to keep the website readable and accessible across desktop and mobile.

The result
The Elouera Tony Mundine Gym website gave the organisation a strong digital presence that reflected both its boxing heritage and its community role. It presented the gym as a practical training space with a deeper local story behind it.
The finished website was visually different from many of our other projects, with a stronger, more physical design language suited to the subject matter.
