The challenge

Interior Awards New Zealand was not a simple brochure website. It needed to operate as both a public showcase for the design industry and a working awards management platform, with different user journeys for entrants, judges, sponsors and administrators. The project required careful planning around:

  • Online entry submissions.
  • Large image and file uploads.
  • Private judging workflows.
  • Finalist and winner showcases.
  • Category-based award management.
  • Sponsor and partner visibility.
  • A premium presentation style suited to the architecture and interiors sector.

The platform also needed to feel credible and refined, matching the expectations of New Zealand’s professional interior design community while remaining clear and practical for users submitting or reviewing awards entries.

Our approach

We developed a comprehensive WordPress platform that combined custom awards functionality with a polished editorial-style front end. The build was structured around the annual awards cycle, from call-for-entries through to judging, finalist promotion and winner presentation.

The system was designed to make complex content manageable for the client, while giving entrants and judges a straightforward experience. Custom post types, structured fields, user roles and tailored admin workflows allowed the awards programme to be managed without relying on generic plugins or disconnected third-party systems.

Key outcomes

01
Custom awards submission system
We built a tailored entry process that allowed participants to submit project information and supporting material through a structured online workflow.
02
Private judging environment
A dedicated judging interface gave judges controlled access to relevant entries, helping the client manage review processes more efficiently and securely.
03
High-quality project showcase
The public website presented finalists, winners and award categories in a way that placed strong emphasis on photography, project detail and industry credibility.
04
Manageable annual platform
The site was built so the awards programme could continue year after year, with content, categories, timelines, sponsors and showcased projects managed through WordPress.

Design system

The visual direction was clean, restrained and premium, allowing interior photography and project documentation to take the lead. The design avoided unnecessary decoration, using a strong, simple layout, generous spacing and typography to give the awards an established industry feel.

The overall look needed to sit comfortably within the architecture and interiors sector, where presentation quality and professional credibility are especially important.

Technical build

The website was developed as a custom WordPress platform with bespoke awards management functionality. Rather than forcing the project into a standard form or membership plugin, the system was planned around the actual needs of the awards programme.

  • Custom awards submission system
  • Entrant, judge, sponsor and administrator access levels
  • Large file upload support for high-resolution project imagery
  • Structured award categories and project data
  • Finalist and winner showcase functionality

Custom WordPress
Websites for
Awards Programs
& Industry Events

Does your website make the program feel credible, current and easy to take part in?

We create custom WordPress websites for awards programs, industry events, conferences and professional platforms that need to present a large amount of information in a clear and engaging way. From categories, judging criteria and key dates to sponsors, finalists, winners and event details, the website needs to help visitors understand the program and take action without confusion.

For awards and industry platforms, a strong website should support both promotion and administration. We build flexible digital systems that make it easy to update content each year, showcase entrants and winners, manage important deadlines, and create a polished online presence that reflects the quality and reputation of the program.
